MODChic @ STILETTO STAMPEDE FOR THE CURE IN HOUSTON

The 5th of November was an amazing cool day in the fall, & exciting things happened at Houston's City Center. Women & men of all ages came together, and raced in high heeled shoes, for a great cause to raise awareness and support for the "Stiletto Stampede for the Cure" Charity event, benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

FASHION TRENDS, STYLES, & COLORS FOR THE FALL & WINTER SEASON

Hello Ladies! Summer is winding down, & it is still blazing hot! I hope you are maintaining & keeping your fashion sense as hot, (metaphorically), but keeping cool during this bizare weather! The fall/winter season is almost here, and we have the latest in fashion trends to keep you in style through the rest of the year.

Now, it is known as the dreary, sad time of the year, because of the weather, but your fashion doesn't have to go with the mood. For this season, its all about bold, metallic, print & neutral pieces that will keep you in glam style. Mix & match classic pieces, & recycle looks to match your style. Invest in bold colored, & well tailored trench coats in tones like oranges & pinks, and pair with a black, dark green, or navy well tailored, dress, or trousers. Do not shy away from tights.

Metallic is in this season, so a metallic hot silver, or gold dress can be worn for the night on the town, with a neutral jacket or blazer. Another idea is to spice up a classic, or traditional look by incorporating metallic accessories (like a scarf, purse, or even sheer metallic tights). Remember the myth do NOT mix prints? Throw it out of the window. The only thing to be aware of while mixing prints is to ensure that they flow, or complement each other. You can also incorporate prints in a single accessory piece, like your shoes, to match your attire, whether it be bold, or neutral colored.

Do not be shy of colors this winter! Whether it is midnight blue, or blues of other kind, bold colors, classic neutrals, pastels, other soft colors, & modern prints, just go crazy with color, & spice up your wardrobe. The whole idea is to avoid being boring! THE 50's, 60's & Beyond...

Ladies, welcome to sensational 50's & 60's! The time when, unfortunately, many of us let ourselves go. Now ladies, once we get to the 50's, we know that we are in control of asserting our capabilities & strengths. We hold the tools of reflecting all our adventures, & all the exciting stories of our lives. It is simply the time to hold nothing back.

Now, when we get to this stage in life, many of us are increasingly body conscious. We want to retain our youth, we want to feel young, however, we must endeavor to always dress & style ourselves appropriately. Ladies, we should never dress to old & frumpy, but make sure to avoid looking as though you are trying too hard to look younger! Look toward beautifully designed dresses, suits, or cotton pieces for casual wear. At this age, we can afford the finer things in life, and there's no point settling! Think about the finest most exquisite pieces, fabrics, and designs that contours your body type fabulously, and forms amazing silhouettes. Tailoring is key: a well tailored outfit, separates girls from women. So, look for clothes with sharp cuts & clean edges. Conservative styling is key, but because its conservative, doesn't mean it should be boring. Your outfit should always represent you and speak in volumes! Think Grace Kelly & Audrey Hepburn, and MODChic will always be here to give you that elegant flair.

THE 40's

Well ladies, its the fabulous 40's! You've worked very hard to be in the position that you are in. You are comfortable with your body, and have a sense of security. You can also afford beautiful clothes with amazing restraint and clean lines.

They say "the 40's are the new 20's," which is true, but with discretion. Do not hold back on your style because you are in your 40's, instead, turn to looks that create a youthful ambiance, but more lady-like & sophisticated in design. Also turn to looks that create long, clean, silhouettes, and tailored to perfection. In the 40's, a woman can afford to look expensive, even if what you have on isn't. Its all about choosing the right colors, the right fabrics, & the right styles that make you appear grand.

For more casual looks, RESTRAINT is key! Now, no one is telling you to dress like a grand mother, but editing an outfit to appear appropriate is important. Skin tight clothing should be limited. Micro minis, should be avoided... If doing shorts, or skirts, go for a longer tight fitting look, and pair with an over-sized blouse. Length should play an important role when deciding a look. A tight fitting legging, or trouser should go with a loose-fitted blouse, ALWAYS...When going for a short look, be very selective in the type of shorts you pick (its way past time to over-expose the butt), choose tasteful A-lined high waist shorts, or even skorts. At the office, career suits or dresses with pops of color are infinitely encouraged. Remember to always accessorize- this pieces your entire look together.

THE 30's

Welcome to the 30's! Yes, the 20's were a good time. Fun, care-free, youthful times that set us up for the rest of our lives. Now we are into the 30's, and even though its time to grow up a little, NEVER loose the youthful flair, character & style. This is the time to set your mark, as well as the time to show the meaning of classic elegance, contemporary visions, & cutting edge ideas, both in the fashion sense, & frankly, in every aspect of your daily life. Yes, yes, ladies, welcome into the fabulous 30's...

An editorial piece in vogue advises that by now, ladies should know their parameters, and understand their strengths Pieces that form lovely silhouettes, with beautiful and strong patterns are perfect looks to rock in the 30's. Trousers that enhance the right assets, depending on body shape, and proportion, can be paired with solid or strong patterned blouses, thereby creating the intended perfect silhouette for the figure of the woman- the same can also be said for skirts & dresses. In our 30's we can go short, but with discretion. Shorts should be a little more elegant, and worn to create clean and long lines throughout the body (The same can also be said for skirts & dresses). Also, you can always add little accents to your work clothes to make them a little fun, & funky, after all, no one wants to be on the stale side of things.

Accessories, accessories, accessories! However, I will follow it up with editing, editing, editing. Accessories are ONLY intended to tie the entire outfit together. Whether it be jewelry, or bags, headpieces or scarves, accessories are a ladies best friend. It shouldn't be OVERDONE.

A Few Tips to Keep in Mind: Wearing big earrings? Then eliminate the necklace, and vice-versa. To bracelet, or not to bracelet? Well, the size of your earrings, or necklace, can determine that. & if you are wearing a big stand out bracelet piece, eliminate the earring or necklace. Again, ladies, its all about editing... Your Jewelry should not overpower YOU.

All in all, the 30's are a time for ladies to set their mark. Here we see an array of strong powerful women, from career women, to lovely moms who take on more responsibilities than all the powerful political figures in the world combined. The 30's really set the tone on the beginning of the rest of your life. Ladies, let your fashion, your attitude, and your character speak for you, and MODChic has you covered to boot. THE 20's

This decade is the time in a lady's life to express her youth, and free spirit. Even a working woman in her 20's, while looking chic for the workplace, should always have an air of youthful exuberance surrounding her. She should never dress too old, or frumpy, and she should never blend into the normal. Boring plain colored jackets & pants combo, or jackets & skirts combo, should be avoided.

Also, a young lady in her 20's should NEVER look too expensive. She can have expensive pieces, or an iconic piece that might cost thousands of dollars, but she should NEVER look like it. Clothes should always be sprightly & fun, bursting with colors, and/or a mix of bold prints. Vintage can always be done, but should be revived in a funky way.

For the more conservative office work place, spice up your pant or skirt suit with a bright applique, a standout jewelry piece, or a broach. & for a night on the town, its your 20's, you can go with mini dresses, or shorts, even try out rompers & jumpers. However, to stay chic, & not fall into the trash category, make sure your mini's are covering all the right areas. If its really short on the bottom, make sure the top is secured & covered (with little-to-no cleavage peeking, depending on the style of the dress, skirt, or shorts you are wearing).
